Our client, a leading Carbon and Energy Consultancy, is looking for a Senior Account Manager to join their team. As the Senior Account Manager, you will take ownership of a portfolio of large I&C clients, acting as their trusted advisor on everything from energy procurement and cost mitigation (via exemption and compensation schemes) to compliance and carbon reduction strategies. You’ll also play a key part in driving growth by identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities, both by bringing in new clients and by expanding services with existing ones. This is a commercially focused, consultative sales role that requires a strong understanding of the UK energy market. Key responsibilities:
1. Manage a portfolio of large I&C high energy users i.e manufacturing etc
2. Primary point of contact for all consultancy services such procurement, cost mitigation, decarbonisation, compliance etc
3. Identify and secure new business opportunities through networking, referrals, targeted outreach, and responding to inbound enquiries.
4. Own the full sales cycle for new business – from prospecting and proposal development to pitching and closing.
5. Collaborate with internal analysts, procurement experts, and carbon consultants to deliver high-quality, client-specific solutions.
6. Regularly report on account performance, retention, upsell, and new business pipeline to senior management.
7. Meet with stakeholders to discuss and understand their challenges and needs.
Skills and experience required:
8. Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role from an energy/ carbon consultancy or supplier
9. Proven track record managing I&C clients & delivering successful procurement strategies
10. Commercially minded with demonstrable success in new business development – ideally with a network in the I&C sector.
11. Consultative and able to understand client pain points and design appropriate service solutions.
12. Great understanding of energy trading, flex contract structures & wholesale market dynamics.
13. Knowledge of energy cost exemption & compensation mechanisms (e.g. EII, CCA, NCC, etc).
14. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
15. Strong numeracy and analytical skills; comfortable interpreting market data and explaining complex concepts to non-experts.
16. Awareness of UK carbon and compliance frameworks (SECR, ESOS, Net Zero, TCFD etc) is desirable.
