SRT are recruiting for an IT Network Engineer to work within the UK Project Support Team. You will be at the forefront of working on our Networking capabilities along with supporting our project teams both in the UK and Internationally for the build and national integration of our systems. These projects are highly progressive in their capabilities. SRT Marine Systems plc runs a hybrid working model, therefore, the role is commutable from such places as Bristol, Malvern, Tewkesbury, Newport, Filton, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Swindon, Reading, Stroud, Worcester, Cardiff, Swansea, Bridgend, Cwmbran, Bath, Hereford and the surrounding areas. Role Overview - IT Network Engineer This role is ideal for a talented and ambitious IT Network Engineer where you will be engaged with designing, implementing, and maintaining computer networks, ensuring reliable and secure communication and data transfer. You will troubleshoot network issues, optimise performance, and work to implement security measures to protect our data and systems. The IT Network Engineer will need to have a strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware. You will also need to be able to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices including WAPs, firewalls, routers, switches, controllers, CCTV, and VOIP etc, along with a deep knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols. Responsibilities - IT Network Engineer Design and Implementation : Planning and designing network infrastructure for local and wide area networks (LANs and WANs) Configuring and testing network hardware and software Implementing new network technologies and solutions Maintenance and Support : Monitoring network performance and identifying areas for improvement Troubleshooting and resolving network issues, including hardware, software, and connectivity problems Providing technical support to users and colleagues Security : Implementing and maintaining security measures, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls Staying up-to-date on the latest security threats and vulnerabilities Ensuring compliance with relevant security standards and regulations Collaboration : Working with other IT professionals, including network architects, system administrators, and security specialists Communicating technical information clearly and concisely Documenting network configurations and procedures Engage with the wider SRT and Vendor teams (e.g. equipment partners, support desk), driving the timely resolution of technical gaps and issues to keep projects on track Proactively working on your own or as part of an Engineering team in-field Assist in UK and International deployments and work streams whilst not in field such as LLD’s, environments management and working with the other engineers on specific tasks Requirements - IT Network Engineer Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in an Engineering related discipline is highly desirable, however extensive experience in mixed software engineering and IT projects is ESSENTIAL Strong Technical Expertise : Possess in-depth knowledge and proficiency in various technologies, including network infrastructure and network transport layers Problem-Solving Skills : Skilled at analysing and resolving complex technical challenges that arise during the design and implementation of the platforms Communication and Collaboration : Effective communication and teamwork are crucial to work closely with developers, stakeholders, and other teams to ensure delivery of the strategy Expert knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.) Experience with network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs Familiarity with network security technologies Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively think on the fly and look to alternative solutions to cope with the changing environment of the deployments and projects Benefits Highly Competitive Salary Matched company pension contributions up to 5% 25 days annual leave rising to 28 days with service Private health care Development opportunities Company “Get to know you” days *Please note – the role requires occasional international travel in support of our projects (sometimes with noticeably short notice) SRT Marine plc are an equal opportunity employer.
