Summary
The Operations Technician is responsible on a day-to-day basis for operating the Treatment Processes associated with the Water Treatment Plant (WTP), Cooling Water treatment, and SNCR – Reverse Osmosis plants. The role also includes implementing front-line Planned Maintenance tasks.
Key Objectives
* Operate the water/effluent treatment plants and equipment to meet water quality and quantity specifications.
* Perform front-line maintenance as required.
* Ensure safe operations to minimize risks to people and the environment.
* Monitor asset performance and optimize operations.
* Communicate effectively with team members and clients regarding plant performance and operational impacts.
* Carry out isolations and de-isolations for maintenance.
* Manage chemical deliveries and raise work orders for maintenance.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Operate the plant safely and report safety concerns.
* Comply with HSE policies and environmental regulations.
* Use chemicals efficiently and monitor plant performance.
* Check inventory and request reorders as needed.
* Prepare Risk Assessments and Method Statements for non-routine work.
* Build strong relationships with operational staff and inform them of plant status changes.
* Participate in shift handovers and suggest improvements.
* Ensure plant availability and carry out operational maintenance.
* Receive deliveries and communicate effectively with colleagues.
Required Skills/Qualifications (Essential)
* Training in Environmental Health and Safety.
* Team player with attention to detail.
* Basic computer skills.
* Commitment to safety practices.
Desirable Skills
* Knowledge of Water Treatment Plants and related processes.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and data sheets.
* Experience with quality systems and NVQ in relevant discipline.
* Basic repair and maintenance skills.
Working for Us
* Salary: £26,000 - £31,000 + 10% Shift Allowance.
* Overtime at x1.5 rate.
* 39.6 hours/week holidays, 6-month probation, pension options, private healthcare post-probation, income protection, and death in service benefits.
* Notice period: 1 week during probation, 1 month thereafter.
