Mechanical Fitter Pay: £30-40K pa Plus bonus scheme and tool payments Hours: Full-time, Day Shift (Monday to Friday) Typical hours: 07:30 – 16:00 (may vary slightly depending on production requirements) Overtime available at enhanced rates Location Gloucestershire (GL5) Overview We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a busy engineering and manufacturing team based in the GL6 area. The successful candidate will work on the assembly, installation and testing of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems used in specialist vehicle and equipment builds. This is a hands-on role suited to a skilled fitter who takes pride in producing high-quality work and enjoys working as part of a close-knit engineering team. Key Responsibilities Assemble and fit mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components and sub-assemblies. Install pumps, valves, pipework, hose reels, tanks, and frames to specification. Work accurately from detailed engineering drawings and instructions. Carry out mechanical alignment, pressure, and flow tests on completed assemblies. Liaise with electrical and hydraulic teams to ensure correct system integration. Follow workshop and health & safety procedures at all times. Maintain high standards of quality, workmanship, and attention to detail. Support continuous improvement and problem-solving activities within the workshop. Skills & Experience Required Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Assembler, or Maintenance Fitter. Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation. Competent in the use of hand and power tools, torque wrenches, and measuring equipment. Experience working with hydraulic or pneumatic systems (desirable). Good mechanical understanding of tolerances, alignment, and assembly methods. Excellent attention to detail, reliability, and teamwork. Health & Safety awareness and proactive work attitude. Qualifications NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting, or a related discipline. Time-served apprenticeship preferred. Additional training in hydraulics, pneumatics, or pipe fitting would be beneficial.
