Description
This is an open and continuous posting for full-time and part-time positions on multiple shifts throughout the Central Middlesex area of the Northeast Region of DDS.
The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) seeks caring and compassionate applicants for the role of DIRECT CARE WORKER I who are committed to building meaningful relationships and providing outstanding care and service.
The Direct Care Worker role provides programmatic direct care services and supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, aiming to create an environment aligned with participants’ needs in daily living and community integration.

Based on assignment, candidates may be eligible for various pay differentials.
Locations
Available in the following Central Middlesex cities & towns:
* Lexington
* Acton
* Maynard
* Bedford
* Woburn
* Burlington
Responsibilities (not all inclusive):
* Support individuals by assisting in habilitative, behavioral, and recreational programs according to ISP objectives.
* Coordinate with supervisors to ensure successful implementation of ISP goals, appropriate methods, service coordination, and crisis intervention.
* Assist with activities of daily living, including household maintenance, self-care, hygiene, shopping, meal prep, budgeting, and social skills development.
* Attend review meetings and accompany individuals to appointments; transport to work, recreation, and other activities.
* Maintain confidentiality and records, and ensure human rights compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Ability to develop respectful, caring, tolerant, ethical, and empowering relationships with individuals with disabilities.
* Ability to assist/lift individuals with physical disabilities or limited mobility.
* Proficiency in reading, transcribing, and understanding English.
Agency Requirements:
* Valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
* Pass the Medication Administration Program (MAP) certification.
* Obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications after training.
Additional Information:
This entry-level position is filled on an ongoing basis; many positions require weekend work with two days off midweek. Flexibility and the ability to perform mandatory overtime are essential. This is a 24/7 staff position, designated as an “EMERGENCY” role, requiring reporting during state emergencies declared by the Governor.
Employees are paid bi-weekly via direct deposit.
