Protocol Education is currently recruiting for Mental Health Support Assistants to work in schools across South Shields. These rewarding roles are ideal for individuals who are passionate about mental health, behaviour support, and making a meaningful difference in young lives. About the Role: You will: Support pupils struggling with anxiety, low mood, trauma, or behavioural issues. Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help them feel safe and heard. Provide consistent emotional and behavioural support through 1:1 and small group sessions. Help deliver wellbeing activities and personalised support plans. Liaise with school staff and external professionals to ensure cohesive care and intervention. We Are Looking For: Individuals with experience in education, youth work, counselling, or social care. A patient, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach to behaviour and communication. Confidence in supporting students with a range of emotional and behavioural needs. A strong understanding of safeguarding, or a willingness to complete relevant training. An Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service) or willingness to apply for one.
