Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position.
Your future duties and responsibilities
In this role, you will design and shape end‑to‑end solution architectures for modern digital services, ensuring alignment with business goals, user needs, and technical best practice. You will work closely with stakeholders and delivery teams to define cloud‑first, secure, and scalable solutions, supporting implementation and ensuring architectural integrity throughout the lifecycle.
You will take ownership of architectural decisions, using prototyping and proof‑of‑concepts to reduce risk and validate approaches, while collaborating across teams to deliver high‑quality outcomes in a supportive and forward‑thinking environment.
* Design & Deliver end‑to‑end solution architectures for digital platforms
* Collaborate & Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
* Define & Govern architecture aligned to cloud‑first and API‑led principles
* Support & Guide delivery teams to ensure architectural integrity
* Validate & De‑risk solutions through prototypes and technical spikes
* Align & Integrate across security, data, and operational requirements
* Ensure & Champion secure‑by‑design and compliance with GDS standards
* Contribute & Influence architecture governance and decision‑making
* Support & Shape pre‑sales, bids, and solution strategies
* Innovate & Explore emerging technologies including AI‑enabled practices
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
You will have strong experience as a Solution Architect or in a senior technical leadership role within complex delivery environments, with deep knowledge of modern architecture patterns and cloud‑first design. You will be confident engaging stakeholders, translating business needs into robust technical solutions, and working within agile, multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver secure, scalable digital services.
* You should have proven experience as a Solution Architect or Technical Architect
* Strong experience designing cloud‑first, platform‑based architectures
* Strong understanding of APIs, microservices, and event‑driven systems
* Ability to communicate architecture to technical and non‑technical audiences
* Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams
* Strong awareness of security, scalability, and resilience requirements
