Overview
Applications are invited for a Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology VR, Cornea and Anterior Segment at Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro. The post provides opportunities for clinical and surgical training in vitreoretina, cataract, cornea, and anterior segment. The post holder will be part of the ophthalmology team delivering services across Cornwall, with involvement in VR clinics and theatres, cornea and cataract clinics and theatres, emergency eye clinics, and the general ophthalmology 1:6 on-call rota.
Responsibilities
* Carry out VR clinics and theatres, cornea and cataract clinics and theatres, and emergency eye clinics as part of the ophthalmology service.
* Participate in a 1:6 on-call rota and work across the Royal Cornwall Hospital and peripheral sites.
* Engage with monthly specialty meetings, clinical audit, service development, teaching of juniors and medical students, and participation in research where possible.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Qualified ophthalmology physician with interest/training in VR, cornea, and anterior segment; eligible for UK professional registration.
* Enthusiastic and motivated with ability to work with a high level of autonomy after training.
