Looking to develop your underwriting career with a leading UK insurer? We're recruiting for a Multiclass Underwriter in our Birmingham team, perfect for Trainee, Assistant, or developing Mid-Market Underwriters ready to build technical expertise and grow their commercial underwriting capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Underwrite new business, renewals, and MTAs across commercial lines, making informed, insight-driven decisions while developing your technical risk assessment and pricing capabilities
* Build and strengthen broker relationships through virtual and face-to-face engagement, supporting Birmingham's position as a key regional hub for commercial underwriting
* Collaborate closely with colleagues across regional teams, contributing to profitable growth while learning from experienced senior underwriters and receiving ongoing coaching
* Develop your trading and negotiation skills, working within delegated authority levels and referring complex cases appropriately while building commercial awareness and market knowledge
Qualifications
* Experience in underwriting or broking at Trainee, Assistant, Development, or Mid-Market level with strong analytical and risk-assessment skills
* Confident communicator with relationship-building abilities, comfortable engaging with brokers and customers while demonstrating curiosity and ambition to grow
* Understanding of FCA requirements and regulatory responsibilities, combined with strong collaboration skills and genuine enthusiasm for developing commercial underwriting expertise
