SEMH Teaching Assistant – Secondary Alternative Provision Location: Blackburn with Darwen Hours: Full-time, long-term Monday–Thursday: 8:00am – 3:20pm Friday: 8:00am – 2:30pm We are seeking a resilient and committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to work full-time in a Secondary Alternative Provision in the Blackburn with Darwen area. This is a long-term role supporting students with social, emotional and mental health needs, many of whom present very challenging behaviour. This role is not for the faint-hearted, but it is highly rewarding for the right person. The Role: Supporting students aged secondary level with SEMH needs Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour Building strong, consistent relationships with pupils Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff Supporting learning both in and out of the classroom The Ideal Candidate: Has experience working with SEMH, behaviour, PRU or alternative provision (desirable) Is calm under pressure and emotionally resilient Can set clear boundaries while remaining empathetic Is committed, reliable, and able to work full-time Has a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people What’s on Offer: Full-time, long-term position Consistent working hours with an early finish on Fridays Opportunity to make a real difference to young people’s lives Supportive staff team within a specialist setting If you are strong, patient, and motivated to work with challenging behaviour in a specialist secondary environment, we would love to hear from you.
