The role Bromptons business is built around solving problems for our users in innovative ways that add real value. This goes beyond the bike and includes the luggage items and hard goods that add to the capabilities of the bike and support enhances the user experience. The Head of Accessory Product is a senior role tasked with building Bromptons accessory business by significantly expanding a range of outstanding products. In 2024 Brompton celebrated making our millionth bike. The majority of these are in regular use around the world. Our owners are evangelists for our brand and will invest in their Brompton experience if offered outstanding accessory products that make using their bike more joyful and useful. These active users, topped up by 100K sales per year, represent a potent commercial opportunity. The product scope includes an in-house designed luggage range (current sales of 100K pieces PA), in-house designed bike accessories, partnerships for products for our D2C business and Junction stores and seasonal partnerships with brands such as Barbour. While accessories are already a significant contributor to Bromptons turnover all these categories have the potential for growth given the right leadership. The role comes with a high degree of independence and the opportunity to work quickly with a dedicated cross functional team. Brompton intends to foster an agile and entrepreneurial attitude in this team and you will be responsible for setting the tone and the pace with your leadership. Responsibilities of the role: Develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy for the Bromptons accessory product lines, aligned with the company objectives and market trends. Own an accessories product roadmap that outlines the release schedule, feature prioritisation, and product iterations to drive continuous improvement with at least an 18 month horizon. Lead an end-to-end product development process starting with defining product requirements. Collaborate with design and engineering teams to develop products and project management to ensure timely market introduction. Conduct user research, gather feedback, and engage with customers to understand their needs, pain points, and preferences, and integrate these insights into product development. Conduct market research to identify customer needs, emerging trends, and competitive landscape, and translate insights into actionable product plans. Develop a deep understanding of the different local needs of markets across the globe. Write the business cases for new products including sales estimates and margin targets. Own and set launch pricing. Monitor the competitive landscape, assess competitor products and strategies, and identify opportunities for differentiation and market advantage. Support collaboration with partner brands on hard and soft goods. Sign-off commercial collaboration agreements. Set rules of engagement (brand, product and compliance) for country offices to deliver their local accessory and merchandising products in their markets (China and USA in particular). Track and analyse key performance indicators for the accessory product lines, such as sales performance, customer feedback, and market trends, and use insights to make data-driven decisions. Present quarterly progress reports for the accessories business to senior stakeholders at Brompton including board. Previous quarter sales, near-term roadmap, forecast sales, product line analysis. Own the annual accessories budget lines. Collaborate with commercial teams on forecast sales, new product contribution and other sources of income. Shape a long-term commercial plan and collaborate with product teams on defining the resource requirements to deliver this. Own accessory product lifecycle management including decisions on delisting of products. Support marketing and sales on new product go to market plans. Own the value proposition and ensure this is brought to life at launch. Skills and Attributes: Full product-lifecycle management experience, from initial research to end of life. Very strong commercial skills are essential. Previous P&L responsibility is an advantage. An obsession with delivering outstanding user experiences and an understanding of taking a user centered approach to innovation. An understanding of how to shape the personality of a brand, define the core DNA and ensure this guides decision making. A proven track record in forecasting demand for new products, and determining forecast confidence levels. Able to understand a global market, source user feedback and extract relevant, actionable insights. The ability to use data to shape priorities and when faced with multiple opportunities ensure the programs of greatest benefit are pursued. A superb communicator, both in person and in writing. The confidence to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders. The storytelling skills to sell product concepts. Outstanding collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively with cross functional teams. The soft skills to shape a high performance team, create a sense of mission and maintain a culture of delivery. Resilient, self-motivated and able to work well under pressure. An independent thinker. Qualifications and Experience Levels: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Business Administration, Product Design, Marketing, Engineering, or Product Management. Proven experience in product management or a related role in a consumer goods sector including taking a senior level of responsibility. A strong knowledge and passion for cycling, with a deep understanding of the cycling market, trends, and customer preferences would be beneficial. Health & Safety Responsibilities: Measure and report on Sustainability and H&S performance, including socially and environmentally responsible practices, incidents, injuries, training, risk assessments and audits, ensuring actions are undertaken and closed to drive continuous improvement.
