Itad are looking for an experienced safeguarding and ethics professional to play a pivotal role in strengthening safe, ethical practice across Itad’s global monitoring, evaluation, research and learning portfolio.
In this senior role, you’ll lead safeguarding risk management across the project lifecycle, provide expert ethics advice, and support organisational systems, compliance, and governance. You’ll work closely with the Head of Safeguarding, Global Safety & Security Manager, HR, project teams, and our Safeguarding, Ethics & Data Committee.
What you’ll do:
* Lead safeguarding risk assessments, due diligence, mitigation planning, and live case support
* Review bids and proposals, advising on safeguarding and ethical risks
* Provide specialist ethics input on evaluation and research design, including informed consent, equity, and do‑no‑harm principles
* Support submissions to ethics committees (e.g., IRBs)
* Maintain and strengthen organisational ethics and safeguarding policies, tools, and systems
* Contribute to governance processes, reporting, and continuous improvement
* Deliver training and capacity building for staff, partners, and Safeguarding Focal Points
* Coordinate external safeguarding and ethics providers
What you’ll bring:
* Strong safeguarding expertise, ideally in international development or research settings
* Experience managing complex safeguarding or ethics issues, including work with vulnerable groups
* Knowledge of evaluation ethics, risk assessment, and responsible decision‑making
* Ability to advise senior stakeholders and project teams with clarity and sound judgement
* Experience developing policies, tools, and training
* A collaborative, solutions‑focused approach and commitment to safe, ethical practice
