We are looking for a skilled and motivated ILS Engineer on a Contractor-basis (inside IR35), based at our Gateshead site on a hybrid 3-day in-office, 2-day from-home arrangement.
This role supports logistics and sustainment activities for cutting-edge naval programmes. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, the role manages the ILS content for Naval programmes to ensure compliance with contract delivery requirements.
All candidates must be eligible for Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) screening and may need Security Clearance (SC) depending on project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Review customer ILS requirements and support sales and estimating teams during the bid phase.
* Act as reliability and maintainability focal point within the engineering team.
* Develop ILS strategies to ensure requirements are effectively planned, resourced, and implemented.
* Create and manage system reliability analysis data and documentation (FMECA, MTBF/MTTR, RBD/FTA, Spare Parts & Consumables, Life Cycle Cost Estimation).
* Manage NATO Codification activities within contract scope.
* Prepare supportability documentation, including Supportability Case Reports, Availability, Reliability and Maintainability Reports, maintenance manuals, and training materials.
* Liaise with customers and third-party ILS specialists.
* Perform additional tasks as delegated by the Engineering Manager.
Candidate Requirements
* Degree or HND/HNC with relevant practical experience (Naval / Marine background desirable).
* Experience with systems engineering processes, product development, and lifecycle support.
* Knowledge of ILS standards such as Def Stan 00-600, ASD S3000L, JSP 886, Def Con 117, and understanding of customer environment and processes.
* Experience with technical publications, including ASD S1000D.
* Experience with NATO Codification requirements and Spares Modelling.
* Proficiency with ReliaSoft XFMEA, BlockSim, or similar reliability software.
* Strong communication skills for interacting with stakeholders.
* Flexibility and adaptability to changing requirements.
* Willingness to travel within the UK and possibly overseas.
