Cundall’s Fire Engineering team prides itself on an exemplary track record of providing innovative and sustainable fire engineering solutions, focused on ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and creating a safe environment without compromising the architectural integrity of the building design.
Our team includes fire engineering consultants and fire protection systems designers/engineers, enabling us to offer integrated solutions. The successful candidate will work alongside these members and undertake tasks related to both fire engineering and the design of fire protection systems.
The Fire Engineering team provides industry-leading expertise and adopts a proactive and collaborative approach to skill development and professional excellence.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Fire Engineer to join our specialist Fire group in Bristol, working on some of the most exciting construction projects in the UK and worldwide.
In this role, you will work across various sectors such as Education, Commercial, Healthcare, Retail, and Critical Systems. Your responsibilities include detailed fire engineering design, developing fire strategies, fire hazard identification, fire risk assessment, smoke control design, and code compliance review. Knowledge of fire suppression and fire alarm systems is advantageous.
You will have the opportunity to assume greater responsibility and autonomy as your skills develop and will be supported towards achieving Chartership.
You will be supported by dedicated senior team members throughout your development.
The Skills
Applicants should be educated to degree level in Fire Engineering or a related discipline, with relevant experience in Fire Engineering design within a building services context (e.g., smoke control calculations, CFAST zone modeling, sprinkler system design), and proven technical proficiency with relevant software. Experience with Technical Handbooks is desirable.
You should have a genuine interest in Fire Engineering and analysis for the built environment, a passion for creative and intuitive design, and the ability to work effectively within a team. Time management skills and an understanding of the commercial factors influencing design solutions are essential.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to use initiative to overcome challenges are crucial, given the collaborative and client-focused nature of this role.
