Job Title: Training Coordinator Line Manager: HR Manager Location: Cammell Laird Shiprepairers & Shipbuilders Ltd, Birkenhead Role Overview The Training Coordinator will be responsible for managing the full training cycle across Cammell Laird’s operation. This includes identifying training needs, coordinating with internal stakeholders and external training providers, arranging courses, maintaining accurate training records, and ensuring all staff hold the necessary qualifications and certifications to work safely and compliantly. Operating in a heavy engineering and shipbuilding environment, the role will focus heavily on health, safety, and compliance training—such as IOSH, Forklift Truck (FLT) training, Abrasive Wheels, and other statutory or role-specific courses. Key Responsibilities Training Administration & Coordination Plan, schedule, and coordinate training programmes across all departments. Liaise with approved external training providers to source and arrange courses. Ensure all mandatory training is delivered and renewed in line with legal and company requirements. Manage induction training for new starters, ensuring compliance from day one. Record Keeping & Compliance Maintain accurate training records and databases, tracking course attendance, expiry dates, and renewal requirements. Provide timely reports on training compliance to managers and HSE teams. Monitor training effectiveness and gather feedback for continuous improvement. Communication & Support Act as the first point of contact for training queries across the business. Work closely with line managers to identify training needs and skills gaps. Support colleagues in accessing relevant training opportunities to develop skills and enhance safety culture. Continuous Improvement Keep up to date with statutory training requirements and best practices in the heavy engineering/shipbuilding sector. Contribute to the development of the training strategy to support business goals. Assist with audits (internal and external) by providing accurate training compliance data. Skills & Experience Experience in a training administration or coordination role, ideally in a heavy engineering, shipbuilding, or industrial environment. Knowledge of compliance and health & safety training requirements Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong IT skills, particularly in maintaining training databases or HR systems. Clear communication skills Attention to detail and a proactive approach to ensuring compliance.
