Job overview

The successful applicant will work alongside the Senior Group Facilitator and wider MDT to develop and deliver a range of group interventions as part of the group work programme at ARC Hounslow. These will be evidence based and will include Motivational Interviewing, Relapse Prevention, Activity based CBT-informed, Positive Psychology and Solution Focused interventions supporting service users from contemplating change through to long term recovery and aftercare.

The post holder will have appropriate awareness and/or working knowledge of therapies relevant to drug and alcohol disorders (i.e. Motivational Interviewing, Relapse Prevention, CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, ITEP.) and have experience of assessment, care planning, case management, risk assessment and of offering individual and group-based recovery interventions.

Main duties of the job

To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team which provides a range of specialist services to service users presenting with substance use issues, including alcohol. The role involves group work, 1:1 working; outreach; delivering evidence-based interventions such as: harm minimisation approaches, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, care planning individual interventions, health education and detoxification programmes, mindfulness, counselling.

To make continuous assessments of the psychological, emotional, social and rehabilitative needs of clients, in group and 1:1 settings, taking into account the needs of family, local community and developing care plans and evaluation of these plans.

To be able to assess and case manage clients who inject drugs, in particular assessing injection sites and be conversant with the precepts of harm minimisation, taking a predominant role in providing duty assessments to clients who are new to the service.

The Addictions Directorate within CNWL Foundation Trust is a large, well-established provider which offers a wide range of specialist NHS drug and alcohol treatment interventions to the diverse and multicultural populations in Central and North West London. Our drug and alcohol services include 7 community services, 1 inpatient service. We also run a National Gambling Service and a Club Drug Clinic as well as various Smoking Cessation services in various London boroughs.

Our substance misuse services are dedicated to helping reduce the harm caused by substance misuse dependency; helping people overcome their dependency on substances and helping clients and their families rebuild their lives and enable recovery. We are committed to working in partnership with other providers and service users in local systems of treatment and recovery.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Main Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

To ensure compliance of, and use agreed and established Outcome Monitoring Tools and any other relevant quality measures to support the delivery of contracted service.

Work with internal and external colleagues to ensure the best practice is shared and knowledge is available to the to ensure services meet required standards, are evidence-based and demonstrate impact in terms of a recovery orientation. Leading on an area of specialism, where appropriate.

To manage the transfer of individuals between agencies and services.

To promote across the service and ensure full risk assessments and risk management is delivered effectively, under supervision

To ensure an understanding, compliance with and implementation of clinical governance.

To ensure the highest quality of service is delivered by following local and national quality and performance standards, guidance, protocols, procedures and practice guidelines.

To ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with Trust policies and procedures, including the Serious Incident policy.

To work with the multi-disciplinary team utilising a combination of Psychosocial Interventions such as Motivational interviewing, Relapse Prevention, Activity based, CBT-informed Positive Psychology alongside a peer-led coaching role in order to support service users to contemplate change through to long term recovery and aftercare.

To support Service Users to identify the most appropriate group-work programme to meet their needs from a range of options.
