Band 6 Hand Occupational Therapist
Pulse is seeking to recruit a Band 6 Hand Occupational Therapist in Chelmsford, Essex, for a key client in the private sector. This position offers full-time or part-time hours on an ongoing basis.
The role involves providing specialised assessment and treatment for hand therapy patients with complex needs, as well as offering expert advice, guidance, and information to health and social care professionals, carers, relatives, and other non-professionals. The post holder will manage their own caseload and a defined service area, working independently. Supervision is provided through regular one-to-one sessions with the line manager, formal training, clinical reasoning sessions, peer reviews, case conferences, and reflective practice.
Applicants must have extensive experience in post-operative hand therapy and splint making. The caseload includes procedures such as fasciectomies, dermofasciectomies, trapeziectomies, joint replacements, skin grafts, sterile techniques for hand care, splinting, exercise rehabilitation, scar management, oedema management, and taping.
Working Pattern
One day per week (7.5 hours), with the possibility of short shifts over two days (Tuesdays/Wednesdays or Fridays). Availability on a Thursday for induction with the lead hand therapist is required.
