I am partnering with a highly respected national professional services firm to support the growth of their Employment Tax team. The Role

The firm is seeking an Assistant Manager or Manager to join its growing Employment Tax practice in London. You will manage a portfolio of clients, lead projects, and provide high‑quality technical advice across a broad range of employment tax matters.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to step up, take ownership of client relationships, and develop within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Managing a variety of employment tax assignments and coordinating project delivery.
2. Acting as a day‑to‑day point of contact for clients, providing proactive, solutions‑focused support.
3. Producing high‑quality work with minimal supervision and assisting with more complex technical matters as part of the wider team.
4. Conducting technical research and presenting findings clearly and effectively.
5. Identifying opportunities for added value and contributing to cross‑service collaboration.
6. Supporting internal teams nationally with employment tax queries.
7. Managing smaller client portfolios, particularly where Employer Advisory (EA) work is the core service.
8. Leading the monthly billing process for EA work.
9. Contributing to business development activity and maintaining strong professional relationships.
10. Supporting the team’s overall goals and fostering a positive, collaborative culture.

Experience & Qualifications

11. ATT qualified or equivalent experience; CTA qualified or equivalent experience preferred.
12. Strong background in employment tax with experience at Senior or Assistant Manager level. Assistant Managers looking for a promotional move to Manager level will be considered.
13. Confident handling client queries and managing client relationships.
14. Awareness of risk, regulatory compliance and high professional standards.

Technical Expertise (Employment Tax)

Experience across a range of areas such as:

15. Payroll
16. HMRC employer compliance reviews
17. IR35 and worker status
18. Due diligence
19. Expenses & benefits
20. Salary sacrifice / OpRA
21. Class 1A NIC & P11D reporting
22. PAYE Settlement Agreements
23. Termination payments
24. Construction Industry Scheme
25. Remuneration planning (bonus, share schemes etc. – desirable)

Personal Attributes

26. Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
27. Ability to manage multiple assignments effectively and deliver high‑quality work.
28. Proactive, commercially minded and contributes positively to team culture.
29. Strong IT skills and an interest in improving work practices.
30. Commitment to ongoing development and openness to change.
