Regional Rehabilitation Unit (RRU) – Ministry of Defence (Defence Medical Services)

Main duties of the job
* Provide consultant-level clinical expertise to service personnel referred to the regional rehabilitation unit, working closely with sport and exercise medicine (SEM) doctor and physiotherapist colleagues.
* Contribute to the strategic development of Defence Rehabilitation and ensure local implementation of relevant national policy.
* Assess highly complex cases, using a range of assessment/diagnostic methods, reaching valid, reliable and comprehensive patient- and client-centered conclusions appropriate to needs, context and culture.
* Produce individual treatment and intervention plans for patients with musculoskeletal injuries, including ACL lesions, acute and persistent shoulder, neck or low-back injuries, ankle inversion injuries, training injuries and others.
* Provide training and expert clinical advice within the RRU to maintain the highest standards of clinical practice.
* Refer for fast-track imaging and surgery and standard NHS referrals where appropriate.

Working pattern
Part-time – 16 working hours per week.
Salary
£64,455 to £74,896 per year, pro-rata. *Pay award pending

Qualifications
* Degree or Graduate diploma (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy.
* Post-registration Master of Science (MSc) in a related clinical area.
* Qualified and competent in diagnostic ultrasound and injection therapy.
Experience
* Clinical experience at advanced practice level (ideally B8a or equivalent).
* Evidence of an up-to-date Advanced Practice portfolio.
* Presentation skills at local and national level.
* Professional membership registration number available.
Registrations and Memberships
* Health and Care Professions Council Registered (HCPC).
* Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
* Accreditation as an Advanced Practitioner with Health Education England (HEE) Centre of Advanced Practice.
