Assistant Psychologist

As an Assistant Psychologist working within the newly established Hospital at Home Team (HaHT), you will be supervised and work closely with the Team's qualified psychologist. You will be a core member of the HaHT supporting the qualified psychologist to provide psychological assessments, formulations and interventions to older people who have complex needs of an organic and/or functional nature. Main duties of the job
* Support the Senior Psychologist in the delivery of specialist psychological assessments and interventions to patients with complex mental health conditions of an organic and/or functional nature.
* Help the Senior Psychologist in the provision of psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other direct care staff in MDT.
* Under the supervision of the Senior Psychologist, be involved in multi‑disciplinary training and development, service audit and development, service evaluation and research, and bring an understanding of psychological change processes to the Team.

Job responsibilities
* Assist the Senior Psychologist in the delivery of specialist psychological assessments and interventions to patients with complex mental health conditions and/or organic difficulties which may include challenging behaviours.
* Be compassionate in meeting the needs of clients, their carers and families.
* Support the Senior Psychologist in the provision of psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other direct care staff in MDT.
* Promote at all times a positive image of older people with mental health problems and/or cognitive impairment and of the service and the wider Trust.
* Under the supervision of the Senior Psychologist, be involved in multi‑disciplinary training and development; service audit and development; service evaluation and research; and bring an understanding of psychological change processes to own role within MDT.
* Administer standardised psychological assessment with clients and collect assessment data from a variety of sources.
* Recognise the potential for or signs of client harm, abuse or neglect, including poor clinical practice, and report all such concerns and take all reasonable steps to protect the client.
* Identify and report concerns regarding the safeguarding of children at risk.
* Support the development of psychological formulation and intervention plans for individual patients and/or their carers; negotiate the implementation of such plans with clients and/or their carers.
* Implement psychological interventions for individual clients, carers, families and groups.
* Develop resources and materials to support the delivery of the service.
* Provide psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other direct care staff in MDT.
* Provide training to other staff in MDT, including preparation of materials for training.
* Participate in CQUIN and QIP projects, NICE benchmarking and compliance requirements as required within MDT.
* Participate in service redesign, cultural change, service evaluation, research and other duties consistent with the responsibilities of this post to provide a quality Hospital at Home Team service.
Person Specification
* Have at least a 2:1 undergraduate degree in Psychology that allows Graduate Basis for Chartered (GBC) membership with the BPS.
* Have experience of working as an assistant psychologist or equivalent.
* Communicate verbally and in writing effectively to a wide range of people.
* Experience of working with vulnerable people.
* Evidence of ongoing study and development.
Education
* Have at least a 2:1 undergraduate degree in Psychology that allows Graduate Basis for Chartered (GBC) membership with the BPS.
* Have experience of working as an assistant psychologist or equivalent.
* Self‑aware and committed to personal development; able to accept and respond positively to feedback from supervision.
* Communicate verbally and in writing effectively to a wide range of people.
