Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activities Co-ordinator to join our team in delivering engaging and meaningful experiences for residents in our assisted living and nursing home facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior care, particularly with individuals living with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. This role is key in enhancing the quality of life for our residents through activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, organise, and implement a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to residents' needs.
* Assist residents in participating in activities, ensuring safety, comfort, and enjoyment.
* Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages social interaction.
* Record resident participation and feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of activities.
* Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to adapt activities for individual needs.
* Support special events and outings, managing logistics to ensure smooth execution.
* Maintain a clean, organised, and well-stocked activity space.
Requirements:
* Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or senior care is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with dementia and Alzheimer's care practices is an advantage.
* Strong communication skills to engage effectively with residents, families, and staff.
* A compassionate and patient approach to caregiving, with a genuine interest in enhancing seniors' lives.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Flexibility to adapt activities based on residents' changing needs.
Role-specific Duties:
The Activities Coordinator's responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Organise and plan activity programmes reflecting service users' preferences.
* Produce newsletters to inform service users and their relatives/friends about activities.
* Support service users to access the internet and other communication methods such as letter writing, Skype, and FaceTime.
* Plan events within allocated budget.
* Ensure service users are at the heart of events and programmes to enhance their wellbeing.
* Promote and protect the welfare of those individuals supported by the service.
Working with Others:
* Develop effective working relationships with other employees within the service.
* Work in cooperation with members of the multidisciplinary teams to maximise opportunities for people in the service.
Leading by Example:
* Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.
* Work within the relevant code of practice.
Personal Responsibilities:
* Attend statutory training and any other training as directed by management.
