Credit Manager – Property Development Finance
The Company:

Role Purpose:
As a Credit Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the credit quality of new loans using the Company’s Credit Models and Policies, ensuring lenders do not take undue risks with their capital. Extensive development finance knowledge and experience are essential for success.
Role Responsibilities:
* Adhere to a Sanction Limit according to the Company’s sanctioning matrix.
* Assist the Head of Credit in developing and recommending loan objectives, policies, and practices, establishing internal controls and policies for Board approval.
* Ensure all new Credit reports comply with the Company’s policies and guidelines.
* Report and recommend actions on exceptions via the response tracker.
* Advise on concentration risks and suggest mitigants for new business opportunities.
* Identify and recommend improvements for policy, process, and procedure shortcomings.
* Stay informed on current rates, activities, and regulatory issues, incorporating them into sanctioning decisions.
* Ensure daily risk controls are followed.
* Conduct pre-application discussions with Relationship Directors to assess appetite.
* Participate in Deal Forum and Borrower Review Forum meetings.
* Respond to pricing requests within Service Level Agreements.
* Review and respond to Sighting Papers and Credit Reports, providing reasons for approval or decline, or proposing alternative terms.
* Address lender questions via the website Q&A.
* Coordinate with the Deal team to ensure timely loan progression to drawdown.
* Verify compliance of new loan agreements with sanctions, conditions, and covenants before release.
* Ensure all Financial Conditions Precedent are met before loan drawdown.
* Attend relevant departmental meetings to promote credit knowledge.
* Manage post-deal monitoring for development loans, including drawdowns, lender updates, and phase updates.
* Provide redemption figures and loan statements.
* Attend client meetings as appropriate.
* Support and train new relationship staff.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
* Extensive experience in property development funding credit.
* Ability to make informed decisions on new deals.
* Awareness of broader business impacts and a commercial mindset.
* Strong decision-making skills.
* Effective communication skills internally and externally.
* Understanding of how credit issues affect the wider business.
* Attention to detail and accuracy.
* Excellent organizational skills and workflow responsibility.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
* GCSE level education or equivalent.
* Experience in FCA (or similar) regulated environments.
* Background in financial services roles.
* Comprehensive knowledge of loan, security, and financial documents.
