The Whitstable School is seeking to appoint an experienced and driven Data and Attendance Manager to lead on this crucial area of school improvement. You will be the architect of our data culture. This is not a back-office role. You will be a visible leader, working at the intersection of technology and social impact. Whether you are automating workflows via Bromcom or identifying subtle shifts in attendance patterns of vulnerable groups, your work will be the heartbeat of our school improvement plan. Working closely with the Attendance Team, pastoral staff and the Senior Leadership Team you will lead a cohesive and strategic approach to attendance, ensuring robust systems, strong accountability and impactful intervention. You will support the leadership of attendance systems and processes, including legal and statutory compliance, ensuring the school meets all national expectations in relation to attendance, persistent absence and safeguarding responsibilities. You will support the leadership of improving student attendance by driving high standards, consistency and clarity of practice across the team.

A key part of the role will be the strategic use of data. You will oversee the accuracy and integrity of school data, including responsibility for the school census and funding-related returns, ensuring compliance and maximising opportunities for the school. You will produce high-quality analysis and strategic reporting to senior leaders and governors, enabling precise, evidence-informed decision making. This role requires strong expertise in Management Information Systems, with current use of Bromcom. You will further develop and streamline systems, driving efficiency in workflows and exploring innovative approaches, including the integration of generative AI, to enhance working practices. At The Whitstable School, we are precise and ambitious in our use of data to identify need, implement targeted actions and secure the best possible outcomes for our students. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring our systems fully support this ambition.

We are a well-established, collaborative school community that values teamwork and shared purpose. Our focus goes beyond academic attainment, we are deeply committed to providing a rich, inclusive experience where every student feels a strong sense of belonging. As part of a wider trust of 18 other schools, you will also work in collaboration with colleagues across the trust, sharing best practice and contributing to the continued development of data and attendance strategies.

Key responsibilities include:

10. Supporting the leadership and line management of the attendance team, ensuring high-quality and consistent practice
11. Overseeing all aspects of attendance, including legal and statutory compliance

18. Has significant experience in data and attendance within a school setting

20. Is highly proficient in MIS systems (experience with Bromcom is essential)
21. Can analyse and present data to inform strategic decision making
22. Has strong leadership and line management skills
