About the role
St Clare's Catholic School, Burdell, is seeking a dedicated and experienced School Officer - Assisting Student Learning (ASL) to commence on 19 May 2025. The position involves 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, until 5 December 2025. It is a Fixed Term, Term Time role.
The School Officer – Assisting Student Learning (ASL) works under the supervision of a teacher to support all students, including those with additional needs, in accessing and participating in schooling.
Typical Duties
* Providing support to students inside and outside the classroom to enable participation in learning and activities.
* Assisting students with specific learning needs, including scribing and reading, and providing feedback to teachers.
* Supporting student engagement and reinforcing appropriate behaviour.
* Helping students use classroom technology.
* Performing administrative tasks like record keeping and preparing resources.
* Maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment.
* Providing support for students' physical needs and personal care.
Mandatory Criteria
* Current Working with Children Suitability Card (Blue Card)
* Current Driver's Licence
* Ability to travel within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
* Ability to perform physical tasks safely
* No formal qualification required; a Cert III in School Based Education Support or equivalent is preferred.
