1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant Full Time | Trafford | Secondary SEN School | Teaching Personnel Teaching Personnel are seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 8 pupil in a specialist SEN secondary school in the Trafford area. The pupil has a range of needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech and language communication challenges, and sensory processing difficulties. The Role As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will: Provide tailored, individualised support throughout the school day. Assist with communication development, using strategies such as visual supports, modelling, and simplified language. Support sensory regulation by recognising triggers and using agreed strategies (e.g., sensory breaks, calming activities). Help the pupil access lessons, stay on task, and build confidence across the curriculum. Implement personalised learning plans and contribute to EHCP targets. Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team. Encourage positive social interactions and help promote independence. Contribute to a calm, safe, and structured learning environment. ✔️ Requirements We are looking for someone who: Has experience working with children or young people (school-based or otherwise). Understands or is keen to learn about ASC, communication needs, and sensory processing differences. Is patient, consistent, and able to build strong, trusting relationships. Can use clear communication, a calm approach, and positive behaviour strategies. Is reliable, proactive, and willing to work as part of a supportive team. Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or is willing to apply). Desirable but not essential: Previous SEN or 1:1 support experience.
