Job Title: Foundation Fellowship Programme Director (FF3)

Start Date: August

Contract Type: Fixed term

Duration: 36

Purpose for Fixed Term: Internal secondment

This post is appointed on a fixed‑term basis for the primary purpose of providing structured training and supervised clinical development. While the postholder will contribute to service delivery, the overarching purpose of the post is to provide defined educational opportunities, supervised clinical practice, and experience aligned to the relevant specialty training curriculum.

Please see below for a detailed job description of the role.

Main duties of the job

Please send a brief personal statement to Faye Hawkins (faye.hawkins@uhs.nhs.uk) outlining your suitability for the role and background educational experience instead of a full TRAC application.

The opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated clinician with an interest in education to join the Medical Education Team as Foundation Fellowship Programme Director looking after locally employed doctors working as F3 equivalent. This role attracts 1PA.

This is a rewarding leadership role nurturing locally employed doctors, many of whom may be new to the NHS. The Foundation Fellowship was designed to allow doctors to obtain equivalent training opportunities as doctors within deanery training posts. It is particularly suited to doctors who have trained overseas and are looking for an environment that is supportive and can help orient them into working within the NHS.

Within this role the individual will work alongside the Foundation Fellowship Programme Director for F1/F2 oversight, recruitment, training, supervision and appraisal for the fellowship programme. The individual should have strong leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead delivery of the Foundation Fellowship Programme
* Monitor trainee progress, performance and wellbeing
* Support Educational Supervisors and ensure high quality placements
* Lead recruitment, induction and appraisal processes
* Work closely with the Director of Medical Education and wider education team

If you are interested in the role, please contact Faye Hawkins, Director of Medical Education.
