We are working with a service provider in Co Fermanagh who are looking to recruit Support Workers to join their team on a long-term temporary basis. It is a supported amodation service which is a purpose-built 13-apartment supported amodation service for young people with a high level of need who are homeless or at risk of bing so. The service works with young people aged 16 to 21 years, many of whom have been in care. Each young person will have their own self-contained flat.
The service is staffed around the clock and staff will work closely with young people to support their development of independent living skills and enable them to move safely in themunity. Young people can live in the service for up to 2 years. Many of the young people we work with in this service struggle with significant mental health concerns and substance misuse issues.
Your new role
This role is a temporary position, initially until September, although this could be extended. They are in need of temporary staff whilst they recruit for permanent staff and therefore would consider temp to perm options.
What you'll need to succeed
1. At least 6 months experience in the last 2 years in similar settings
2. Experience and willingness to get involved and be a proactive member of the team, taking part in activities
3. Experience of dealing with challenging behaviour and substance misuse
4. Be passionate about supporting young people and giving them the best chances
5. Excellentmunication both with service users and staff
6. You will also need a children and adults Access NI and be registered with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council.
