This role is offered on a Variable Hours contract for services, giving you the flexibility to choose whether to accept work offered to you. We’ll provide an approximate number of hours you may be asked to work, however there is no obligation for work to be offered, and there’s no obligation for you to accept the work offered.

The Opportunity

Barnsley College is seeking an enthusiastic and inspirational A Level Drama Teacher to support our Year 13 A Level Drama students as they complete their studies. This temporary opportunity is part of our vibrant Creative Arts and English department—a lively, collaborative and high-performing team where staff work together to create an outstanding student experience.

You will deliver the AQA A Level Drama specification to a small and dedicated group of 11 learners, ensuring they leave with the grades and skills needed for their next steps.

Working within our purpose-built Sixth Form College, you will benefit from excellent performance spaces, high-quality resources and exceptional student behaviour.

Your responsibilities will include planning and teaching engaging lessons, supporting both practical and written coursework, developing learning materials, preparing learners for assessments and providing high-quality academic and pastoral guidance.

You will work closely with Course Leaders and colleagues to ensure the curriculum is delivered effectively and meets the needs of all students.

About You

We are looking for a passionate, motivated and learner-focused practitioner who can confidently deliver both the theoretical and practical elements of A Level Drama.

You will bring excellent organisational and communication skills, a commitment to outstanding teaching and a strong understanding of A Level learner needs.

You will contribute to planning, assessment, curriculum development and learner support, ensuring students are stretched, challenged and fully prepared for progression.

Required

Teaching qualification (must be willing to work towards PGCE if Level 5 not already held) Degree in a relevant subject

* GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2 qualification)
