The Post:
The Director of Screening leads Screening Oversight and Assurance Scotland (SOAS), which co-ordinates Scotland’s national screening programmes, providing whole-system leadership, oversight and assurance.
At a time of major change for population screening, the Director of Screening provides professional leadership and expertise for the introduction of new screening programmes, developing existing screening programmes, and ensuring the transition to new digital capabilities in the coming years.
The Director of Screening leads a team within the Clinical Directorate of National Services Scotland.
The Candidate:
The successful candidate will be a confident leader, with extensive experience in public health practice and population screening. They will be skilled in working in a complex programme meeting challenging targets and developing high standards of governance and performance. They will have a track record of leading and delivering change in a health and care context.
As a skilled negotiator and strategist, they will have demonstrated the ability to forge strong working relationships at a senior level with government, executive and clinical colleagues, set direction and motivate their team to deliver outcomes.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Candidates must have current /GMC/GDC/UKPHR registration at the time of applying.
Location and Working Pattern:
Currently hybrid working, with a base location at an NHS National Service office.
Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week (agenda for change) or 40 hours per week (M&D T&Cs)
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
