Booker Group is recruiting for a Head of Trade for Produce. In this role, you will manage a strategic, high-profile category with full end-to-end accountability for the delivery of sales, customer, and profit targets.
You will be part of the senior team with day-to-day responsibility for direct reports and a broader team of category managers, assistant buyers, and category assistants. This role involves managing a complex supply base with multiple need states. The area has strong strategic projects linked to both retail and catering, such as supply chain transformation, requiring cross-functional stakeholder engagement and leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
* Annual negotiations with suppliers to ensure competitive terms and coaching the team accordingly.
* Development and implementation of category plans to meet key metrics for catering and retail.
* Delivery of cash profit and customer satisfaction targets.
* Ensuring best-in-class inbound supplier service levels for distribution centers and branches.
* Developing strategic plans and working cross-functionally to execute them.
* Leading the category team, managing performance, encouraging development, and supporting Booker’s initiatives like 'Making Everyone Welcome' and 'A Place to Get On'.
* Growing own brand business through sourcing and innovation to increase sales and margins.
* Properly distributing the range across estates to optimize the mix and principles of good, better, best.
* Collaborating with the senior team to identify opportunities and improve ways of working.
* Working with finance to produce reliable forecasts.
* Seeking opportunities to reduce Booker’s environmental impact.
* Acting with integrity, championing diversity, ethics, and inclusion, and following the business code of conduct.
* Ensuring all negotiations comply with GSCOP guidelines.
* Deputising for the Director of Trading when needed and cascading information appropriately.
