Job Introduction
We’re recruiting a Fire Safety Works Manager to lead the delivery of all planned fire safety improvement works in council-owned homes, from fire risk assessments to the replacement of fire doors and protective systems.
We’re the city’s biggest landlord with more than 11,000 properties. You’ll manage an annual budget of £6 million, oversee contractor performance, and ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
This role involves regular site inspections and working closely with colleagues, contractors, and regulators.
This is a site-based role
Role Responsibilities
* Set standards and priorities for fire safety works across council homes.
* Deliver fire safety programmes within time, budget and quality standards.
* Review and audit Fire Risk Assessments and develop prioritised programmes.
* Manage budgets and provide cost estimates for planning and approval.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and CDM regulations.
* Chair contractor progress meetings and maintain accurate documentation.
* Provide fire safety advice and engage with residents and councillors.
Ideal Candidate
* Degree or diploma in Construction or Building Services, or equivalent experience.
* Fire Risk Assessment qualification (NVQ level 4 or equivalent) desirable.
* Experience in managing fire safety projects and construction works.
* Knowledge of health and safety legislation and fire safety codes.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work on-site and access areas such as roof voids and bin stores
