We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Design and Development Engineer to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving mechanical components and systems, from concept through to production. There will be a strong emphasis on metal pressing and injection moulding processes. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and procurement to ensure innovative, cost-effective, and manufacturable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD software (e.g., Creo).
* Create detailed engineering drawings and specifications for manufacturing.
* Conduct design reviews, tolerance analysis, and FMEA to ensure product reliability and performance.
* Prototype and test new designs, analyse results, and iterate as needed.
* Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimised for production.
* Support product lifecycle activities including design changes, cost reduction, and quality improvements.
* Maintain accurate documentation and revision control in accordance with company standards.
* Stay up to date with industry trends, materials, and manufacturing technologies.
Qualifications:
* Min. of HND in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
* 3+ years of experience in mechanical design and development, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
* Proficiency in 3D CAD software and engineering analysis tools.
* Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical systems.
* Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience with PLM systems and ERP integration. (SAP preferred).
* Knowledge of GD&T and ISO/BS drawing standards.
* Familiarity with additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping.
* Exposure to lean manufacturing principles.
* Understanding of surface finish, tolerances, and post-processing for pressed and molded parts.
