The Glenrothes Community Development Team are committed to working with young people to improve life chances through learning, personal development, and active citizenship programmes. Your time will be spent delivering a range of opportunities and interventions to achieve the national Youth Work outcomes. You will undertake face to face delivery of Youth Work, meeting the needs of young people. As part of a team you will plan, deliver and evaluate programmes and activities using the Fife CLD Quality Framework.
You will be required to undertake Fife Council training to ensure you act in accordance with policy around Health & Safety, Child and Adult Protection and Data Protection.
You will a key member of the Community Development Team in the Glenrothes area and will work alongside Community Education Workers and a variety of others.
This post is being advertised with the option of a 6-hour post and a 12-hour post or a combined post of 18 hours, dependant on the candidate’s availability.
1. 6-hour post will involve working Tuesday and Wednesday 6.30-9.30pm (Community Based Youth Work; Proud & Youth Club)
2. 12-hour post will involve working Tuesday and Thursday 9.30am- 3pm (Icebreakers, supporting young people to have a positive post school destination)
3. 17-hour post is a combination of the above two posts
There is also a separate Senior Youth Worker position advertised, and there is the option for you to apply for both posts and work more hours across the two positions.

The Person
You must be able to work and communicate successfully with others including Council services and voluntary organisations.
You must have experience of engaging with young people.
You will be a Team worker and motivator with good communication skills and possess a can-do’ approach.
You should be able to provide a regular and effective service.
Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
