Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for an Automation QA Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Poland. Our client is one of the largest food retailers in the world, operating thousands of stores in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Europe. The company carries out business through multi-format stores and online. It operates stores in various formats differentiated by size and range of products sold, including large, small, dotcom only, and one-stop. They offer fresh food, drinks, bakery, grocery, home and entertainment products, baby products, clothing, household appliances, frozen food, pets, health and beauty products, consumer electronics, and electrical goods. It also provides consultancy, retail banking, and insurance services. The company was founded in 1919 and is headquartered in Welwyn Garden City, the UK.
Office work is expected 1-3 days per week.
Requirements
* 5+ years of proven, hands-on experience in Java / NodeJS with a strong focus on test automation and quality engineering.
* Hands-on experience with modern testing tools such as Playwright and REST Assured.
* Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies (functional, integration, performance, regression).
* Experience in designing, maintaining, and executing test strategies and suites for complex, scalable applications.
* Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and version control workflows (e.g., Git), with a mindset toward continuous delivery.
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, coupled with strong attention to detail and a quality-first mindset.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead discussions, influence decisions, and represent QA in cross-team initiatives.
Nice to have
* Experiencewith performance testing and results analysis using tools such as Gatling or k6.
* Experience creating and maintaining testing infrastructure (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Responsibilities
* Lead the development and continuous enhancement of robust, scalable test automation frameworks using Java / NodeJS.
* Own the execution and management of both manual and automated test cases across a variety of complex scenarios and environments.
* Conduct performance testing (Gatling / k6) and analyze results to guide performance improvements.
* Drive quality initiatives and risk-based testing strategies in collaboration with cross-functional teams including development, QA, and product.
* Generate comprehensive reports on coverage, defects, and release readiness metrics.
* Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior QA engineers, supporting their growth and ensuring consistent practices across the team.
* Take ownership of the testing lifecycle, proactively identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency.
