We have an excellent full-time opportunity to work as a Consultant Psychiatrist at Priory Cheadle Royal Hospital. Set within picturesque landscaped gardens in Cheadle, Stockport, Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal offers a range of comprehensive inpatient mental health services for young people and adults. The focus of our service is to help people live their best life in a safe and supportive environment.
Role Description:
Clinical Responsibilities:
* Working as the Consultant and Responsible Clinician as part of the MDT
* Taking overall responsibility for patient care and treatment plans in conjunction with the MDT
* Timely assessment of referrals with the MDT
* Conducting comprehensive assessments and treatment planning with patients, external stakeholders, and carers
* Chairing MDT/CPA meetings; adhering to organisational admission and discharge policies and procedures
* Timely discharge GP notifications and summaries
* Contributing to unit governance through expertise and leadership
* Preparing and supervising reports for Mental Health Act Review Tribunals & Managers Hearings, including giving evidence
* Participating in a non-resident second on-call rota out of hours, approximately 1:7
Management Responsibilities:
* Providing clinical leadership in collaboration with the Ward Manager
* Ensuring ward compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements
* Attending ward governance meetings with the ward manager
* Working on organisational quality improvement initiatives
* Participating in monthly governance and academic meetings
* Engaging in case presentations, teaching, audits, research, and quality improvement initiatives
Post Requirements:
* MBBS or equivalent medical degree and MRCPsych with S12/AC approval
* Full GMC registration with license to practice
* Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Code of Practice, and the Mental Capacity Act 2005
* Commitment to ongoing professional development
* Significant experience in inpatient mental health acute units (desirable)
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
