An opportunity has arisen in the office of Paula Barker MP to join her team as a Parliamentary Assistant. The role will be based in Westminster but will be expected to travel to Liverpool on occasion. Initially for a period of 12 months with the possibility of extension.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Analyse, evaluate, and interpret data to ensure the Member is accurately informed on key issues.
* Writing of external communications, including speech writiting.
* Attend and participate in meetings as appropriate.
* Contribute to all relevant areas of Parliamentary business including, motions, amendments, legislation, debates and APPG's.
* Advise on policy issues
* Have working knowledge of relevant legislation and upcoming business, including how they impact on the constituency.
* Prepare and present briefing notes for committeess, parliamentary questions and all aspects of parliamentary business.
* Maintain positive ongoing relationships with all parties, including members of the public, community groups and stakeholders.
* Undertake research on relevant subjects as directed.
* Undertake constituency & policy casework as and when required.
* Engage confidentially, professionally, with care and integrity with members of the public and stakeholders through, telephone enquiries, emaila and face to face enquiries.
* Project Management as required.
* Any other duties commensurate with the role and salary.
* There may be a requirment for the post holder to work outside of normal working hours and travel to Liverpool occassionally.
