Research Associate in Carbon Nanomaterials for Biomedical Applications
Join UNSW as a Research Associate in the School of Chemical Engineering. The role focuses on synthesis, optimisation, characterisation, catalytic analysis, and biological testing of carbon nanomaterials.
Responsibilities
Conduct independent and team research, develop scholarly papers, supervise HDR students, engage with industry partners, attend conferences, and contribute to writing scientific papers and reports for international journals.
Reports to Associate Professor Sophia Gu and has no direct reports.
Qualifications
* PhD in material science, engineering, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a nanotechnology‑related area.
* Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations in the relevant field.
* Previous research experience in synthesis, characterisation, catalysis, and/or bio‑applications of carbon nanomaterials.
* Proven commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
* Ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
* Ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
* Ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
* Understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action.
* Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant training.
Benefits
* Salary Level A – $113,911 to $121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation.
* Full‑time fixed‑term contract, 12 months, possibility to extend.
* Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia.
