Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 09:00AM – 17:00PM
Rate: Day: £19 – £22 per hour
About the role:
The Pharmacy team at seeking a dedicated Band 5 Locum Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately dispensing and supplying medicines to inpatients, supporting medicines optimisation on the wards, and providing patient-facing care in the Emergency Department (ED) alongside the ED Senior Pharmacist. The role aims to improve the patient experience by dispensing TTAs in ED, counselling patients, and enhancing patient flow. This position will also support Boots in managing activity, reducing queues, and lowering expenditure on Boots dispensing fees, as approximately 20% of outpatient prescriptions dispensed by Boots come from ED.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Pharmacy Technicians are responsible for identifying and resolving prescription risks, accurately dispensing medications, and counselling patients on safe medicine use. They supervise assistants, manage stock requirements, maintain records, ensure proper storage, and assess returned stock. They also foster communication between staff, prepare medications, minimize wastage, and handle controlled drugs. Regular stock checks and covering duties as needed are also part of their role.
Qualifications and Experience:

* BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences
* NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Science (or equivalent)
* Accreditation in Checking of Dispensing
* Accreditation in Patient Counselling
* Experience:
* A minimum of 6 months recent UK NHS hospital experience
* Familiarity with NHS dispensing practices
