SEN Teacher - Post 16 - Sittingbourne
Job Title: Qualified SEN Teacher
Location: Sittingbourne, Kent
Contract: Full-time / Long-term (Permanent opportunities available)
Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance (dependent on experience)
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Qualified SEN Teacher to work with pupils who have a range of Special Educational Needs, including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, PMLD, MLD, and complex needs. This role is based within a specialist or inclusive setting in the Sittingbourne area, supporting pupils to achieve both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCPs
* Support pupils with a range of additional needs in small groups or 1:1 settings
* Implement effective behaviour management and positive intervention strategies
* Track progress and adapt teaching to meet individual learning outcomes
* Work collaboratively with SENCOs, therapists, support staff, and parents/carers
* Maintain accurate records, reports, and assessments
* Create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
* Proven experience teaching pupils with SEN (school, PRU, or specialist setting)
* Strong understanding of EHCPs and inclusive teaching strategies
* Confident behaviour management skills
* Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Desirable
* Experience in SEMH, ASD, or complex needs settings
* Team Teach, MAPA, or similar behaviour management training
* Background in specialist schools, PRUs, or alternative provisions
