The Best Connection are recruiting for a Fabrications Estimator for a well‑established engineering and fabrication business specialising in architectural steelwork, structural beams, staircases, bespoke fabrication and CNC plasma cutting. This is a permanent, full‑time role based at their Head Office in Blidworth. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive cost estimates for structural and fabrication steel projects. The role plays a key part in ensuring work is priced correctly, tenders are submitted professionally, and profitable contracts are secured. Key Responsibilities Reviewing and interpreting structural steel drawings, fabrication details, specifications and tender documentation Carrying out accurate material take-offs and quantifying steelwork requirements Preparing detailed cost estimates including materials, labour, fabrication time, welding, finishing, transport, installation, subcontractors, overheads and profit Preparing and submitting professional quotations and tender documents Using the company's estimating/tender portal to upload documents, build estimates, track submissions and support the tendering process Liaising with clients, main contractors, suppliers, engineers and internal teams Requesting, reviewing and comparing supplier quotations to ensure best value Assisting with pricing clarifications and negotiation where required Maintaining accurate records of estimates, cost breakdowns and submitted tenders Experience & Requirements Proven experience in structural steel or fabrication estimating Strong ability to read and interpret technical and engineering drawings Commercial awareness with the ability to produce competitive pricing while protecting margins Experience using estimating or tender portals Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and work to deadlines Strong communication and organisational skills Working Hours and Pay: · 8am - 4.30pm (Monday to Thursday) · 8am - 12pm (Friday) · Pay rate starting from £17 per hour, dependant on experience.
