This is an excellent opportunity to join the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) Midlands to help drive forward health improvement and tackle inequalities in health. OHID Midlands is a great place to work with a strong team of expertise and experience, and a passion to improve health and reduce disparities. We have good relationships with local authority teams across the Midlands and contribute to NHS work with NHS Midlands regional teams.
We are looking for an experienced specialist in public health to develop, drive and scale-up delivery of national and regional public health programmes. You will provide public health leadership, expertise, and system support to help address both complex and emerging public health challenges. You will be required to contribute to a wide range of high-profile public health-related work, confidently working with a broad range of senior internal and external stakeholders to create change. Your role may include line management responsibilities.

This is an exciting period of organisational change as DHSC/NHSE merge to create a new organisation to lead delivery of the ambitions of the 10 Year Health Plan for England: fit for the future. This role will provide the right candidate with significant experience and opportunities to learn, develop and make a real difference to people’s lives. You will need to be self-motivated and able to manage yourself and others independently, work under pressure and be comfortable with complexity and change.
The Health Improvement and Wellbeing team collaborates with regional partners in local authorities, Combined Authorities, NHS, West Midlands and East Midlands ADPH and other stakeholders, to support people living in the Midlands to remain healthier for longer. Fundamental to all this work is a commitment to tackling health inequalities and supporting everyone so they can expect to live more of life in good health.
Qualifications and Conditions
* Experienced specialist in public health.
* If medically qualified, appointment to the point of the consultant salary scale (2003 contract) for England appropriate to years of seniority, or if from a background other than medicine to an equivalent Agenda for Change Band 8d.
* Ability to work with senior internal and external stakeholders and to provide leadership and strategic system support across national and regional public health programmes.
