We are looking for Regulatory Manager who would take the role internally as Group Competition Manager andlike to help us reach our mission to earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service. Purpose of this role Reporting to the Director of Regulatory Affairs, the Competition Manager will lead the development of BUUK Infrastructures (BUUKs) competition engagement and enforcement. A key focus will be engagement and challenge with the Incumbent monopoly providers of utility services in the regulated Gas, Electricity, Water and Fibre businesses. Closely working with the regulated business leads to establish priorities and shape the competitive framework. Working with the wider regulatory team the Group Competition Manager will promote and protect BUUKs interests through active engagement with different external stakeholders and supporting the development of the future policy and regulatory frameworks under which BUUKs licensed businesses operate. Your key responsibilities are Work with wider BUUK leadership to establish regulatory competition strategy and policy, with defined goals and timelines. Manage regular reporting on key issues and possible solutions. Develop and implement internal stakeholder engagement plan to keep abreast of the key challenges and needs of each business. Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of connections policy across Electricity, Water, Gas and Fibre. Lead external legal and regulatory challenges to incumbent anti-competitive behaviour and policies in all BUUK regulated utilities. Develop and implement external stakeholder engagement plan, with proactive contact to influence key decision makers. Co-ordinate compliance with legal competition requirements and where appropriate, to determine and co-ordinate actions to improve compliances and mitigate any potential negative impact on BUUK. Develop and promote industry changes that are in BUUKs competitive interests. Provide the interface to BUUKs internal stakeholders to communicate and manage changes in the competition landscape. Support the wider regulatory team in responding to consultations and industry changes where relevant to competition issues. Qualifications Minimum 5 GCSEs, or equivalent, including Maths and English. Experience/Knowledge A strong government policy and or regulatory background with a detailed understanding of how to successfully influence their development. Abilities/Skills Excellent analytical skills to undertake detailed analysis of complex issues. Ability to represent and defend BUUKs position at external meetings. Exceptional communication skills to deliver complex messages in a variety of media to internal stakeholders. Able to build, develop external relationships to maintain a safe and healthy working environment for all employees. Desirable Undergraduate degree in Law, Economics, Accounting, Engineering or similar discipline. Experience of economic regulation within the multiple GB utility sectors. Experience of new connections policy and processes within one of more utilities sectors. Experience of working with government/regulators in developing competition policy. Project management skills to monitor and manage large scale changes to price control frameworks. Ability to develop and propose solutions independently to maximise BUUKs competitive position.
