Job objectives and responsibilities
· To proactively promote, design and deliver painting and decorating workshops to resdents, including an assessment process where appropriate, so that residents have a comprehensive understanding of professional techniques and practices to deliver decorating services to a professional standard and have the opportunity to gain a relevant qualification.

You will be badged and accredited Detention Custody Officer, responsible for daily interactions with immigration residents. You will be required to attend a training course, which includes Health and Safety as well as Control and Restraint training. Your core working hours will be Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
You must be eligible for CTC clearance.
You must hold a valid British passport or an EU passport with a share code. Additionally, you must have lived and worked in the UK for at least 3 years, without any extended trips overseas. Applicants must have no criminal convictions and must not be subject to any ongoing police investigations.
Main duties and accountabilities
· Actively promote the Painting and Decorating Workshops throughout the Centre, explaining opportunities available and relevance of skill as part of Preparation for Release programme, to ensure residents are informed and there is optimal uptake.
· Provide an induction to residents to encourage their participation and ensure that the teaching provided is relevant and interesting.
· Develop and deliver the painting and decorating courses and, as appropriate, advanced skills training as part of the learning programme, supporting and encouraging all learners to enable them to achieve their learning objectives.
· Create and maintain a safe, secure, positive and friendly learning environment where residents feel welcomed and respected.
· Monitor attendance, retention and achievement figures and assist in the development of strategies and procedures and make improvements to maximise these.
· Use all resources effectively to ensure quality of service and value for money.
· Manage the learning environment ensuring maintenance and security of tools and equipment at all times to relevant standards.
· Organise and lead paint parties within the Centre ensuring compliance with company safe systems of work, statutory obligations and QHSE requirements.
· Maintain tools and equipment so that they remain serviceable and ready for use.
· Monitor stock levels and ensure ordering system is in place, so that the availability of materials is maintained.
· Use, handle transport and store equipment and materials securely and correctly at all times to ensure a safe and secure environment.
· Support Regimes covering other areas as required to ensure continuity of service.
· Undertake further duties to support the Regimes departmentand delivery of relevant vocational courses as required.
Person Specification
· A relevant NVQ qualification is desirable.
· Previous experience of painting and decorating duties within a large complex environment would be advantageous.
· An appropriate teaching qualification and/or experience is required.
· Experience within the custodial setting would be advantageous.
