Job Title: Support Worker Location: Milton Keynes Contract Type: Full-Time Start Date: ASAP Supply Desk is working in partnership with a nurturing and inclusive school in Milton Keynes, seeking a dedicated and resilient Support Worker to join their team as soon as possible. This is a meaningful opportunity to support young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who require additional help beyond mainstream education. About the Role: Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs Help students manage their emotions, build self-esteem, and re-engage with learning Support the class teacher in delivering structured and differentiated learning activities Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils using empathy and positive behaviour support strategies Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies Assist with implementing behaviour support plans and encourage restorative approaches Support students both in and out of the classroom, including during break and lunch times The Ideal Candidate Will: Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or in alternative provisions Be patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure Use positive behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies Be committed to safeguarding, inclusivity, and student wellbeing Work well as part of a supportive team and communicate effectively with staff, students, and families Be flexible, proactive, and resilient in adapting to daily challenges A background in youth work, care work, SEN, or mental health support is desirable Why Work with Supply Desk?
