We are recruiting for a Risk and Governance Assistant who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
The Risk and Governance Assistant will provide high-quality, proactive administrative and governance support to the Director of Midwifery and the Head of Governance, Compliance and Quality Improvement within Women’s Services.
The role has specialist governance coordination functions to ensure effective management of key safety and compliance processes.
A central focus of the role is supporting the delivery and monitoring of maternity safety and quality programmes, including the Maternity Incentive Scheme and Saving Babies’ Lives Care Bundle. This includes maintaining action plans, supporting evidence collation for external submissions, and contributing to audit readiness.
Other key responsibilities include proactive diary and workload management, handling sensitive communications, and providing comprehensive administrative support to senior leadership.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will operate with a high level of discretion, recognising the sensitivity of governance, risk and patient safety information at all times.
The role will provide essential administrative and governance coordination support to the Director of Midwifery and Head of Governance. This includes leading on the administration of the Maternity Incentive Scheme, attending meetings, taking accurate minutes, maintaining action logs, and supporting the collation and submission of evidence within required deadlines.
The post holder will coordinate governance and priority meetings, preparing and distributing agendas, reports and documentation, and ensuring actions are recorded, tracked and escalated as required. They will organise senior management meetings and events, including all logistical arrangements and preparation of supporting materials.
A key responsibility is supporting audit readiness by collating and managing documentation required for external reviews and assessments, and providing administrative support to maternity quality improvement programmes, including maintaining project action plans.
The post holder will manage communications and correspondence on behalf of senior leads, prioritise workload effectively, and ensure governance processes are delivered in a timely, accurate and consistent manner.

Essential criteria
* Able to demonstrate a good level of general education in Mathematics and English.
* Accurate and fast typing skills
* Good IT skills

* Experience working to tight deadlines and under pressure
* Experience analysing and presenting data
* Ability to arrange and minute meetings
