The Role:
We are seeking a Safety and Compliance Surveyor to support the effective delivery of health and safety compliance across a diverse housing portfolio. This is a hands‑on role focusing on fire safety, building safety, legionella control, and the wider “Big 6” compliance areas.
You will work as part of a dedicated Contracts and Compliance team, supporting risk management, inspections, contractor oversight, and customer engagement. The role also includes general surveying duties, including visiting both occupied and empty properties.
Key Responsibilities:
* Attend and support all Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) with contractors, ensuring full understanding of required actions.
* Maintain and update fire risk monitoring records, ensuring all remedial actions are tracked to completion.
* Manage compliance activities across all “Big 6” safety areas, ensuring timely delivery of remedial actions and contractor performance
* Issue and monitor planned compliance works, ensuring they are prioritised correctly and completed within required timescales.
* Carry out general surveying duties, including visiting tenanted and void properties.
* Respond to customer enquiries and maintain clear communication across multiple channels.
* Participate in customer engagement, using feedback to drive continuous improvement.
* Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and external agencies to ensure smooth delivery of compliance responsibilities.
What We’re Looking For:
* Strong technical knowledge of building safety, fire safety, and health & safety regulations.
* Understanding of building maintenance risks and compliance obligations.
* Ability to interpret FRAs, prioritise actions, and manage remedial works effectively.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to a range of stakeholders.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively to deliver high‑quality compliance outcomes.
* Excellent organisational, administrative, and IT skills (Microsoft Office).
Qualifications Required:
* Good standard of general education.
* NEBOSH or IOSH qualification (desirable).
* In‑depth understanding of building or fire safety frameworks, ideally supported by relevant professional qualifications (RICS, CIOB or equivalent).
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Additional Requirements:
* Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
* Weekly core office day required (Wednesday).
