An experienced Planning Policy Officer is required to support a local authority in Sussex in progressing its Local Plan through key preparation and examination stages. This role will play an important part in shaping strategic planning policy, supporting evidence base work, and ensuring the authority meets its statutory planning responsibilities. This opportunity would suit a planning professional with a strong background in plan-making who can work independently while contributing to a collaborative policy team. Assist in the preparation, review, and progression of the Local Plan and associated planning policy documents Draft planning policies, supporting text, and consultation material Support public consultations, stakeholder engagement, and duty to cooperate activities Contribute to the development and review of the evidence base, including housing, employment, and environmental studies Analyse consultation responses and prepare summaries and recommended changes Provide policy advice to Development Management colleagues to ensure consistent interpretation of emerging and adopted policy Support the preparation of documents and statements for Local Plan Examination Liaise with internal departments, statutory consultees, developers, and members as required
