GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join schools in Heanor from September 2025. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, this role is perfect for individuals with experience of supporting young people who display challenging behaviour or require additional emotional and social support.
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting students on a one-to-one or small group basis to promote positive behaviour.
* Implementing behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
* Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement in learning.
* Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to meet individual needs.
* Monitoring progress and providing feedback to relevant staff members.
To be successful in this role of Behaviour Support Assistant, you should:
* Have prior experience supporting children or young people, ideally with behavioural needs.
* Be patient, empathetic, and able to stay calm under pressure.
* Demonstrate strong communication and relationship-building skills.
* Hold an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
* A full, up-to-date CV with explanations for any gaps in employment over the last 10 years.
