About The Role
We are looking for a versatile and experienced Handyperson to handle a variety of building maintenance tasks at our NDC. This is a full-time role. You will be responsible for general internal and external building repairs, door adjustments, simple plumbing, painting & decorating, and other maintenance duties as instructed by the Facilities Manager. The role will also include an element of waste management control, removing waste both internal and external to maintain property health & safety standards and a clean environment for staff and visitors, supporting other NDC warehouse departments.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform general building repairs, both internal and external.
* Replace damaged warehouse racking cross beams as required.
* Adjust or rehang office and warehouse doors as needed.
* Repair or replace faulty door locks, hinges, crash barriers, etc.
* Hang or remove signage and notice boards as required.
* Address simple plumbing issues such as leaking taps and waste pipes.
* Take monthly property utility meter readings.
* Assist with weekly fire alarm bell tests as required.
* Assist with moving varied items to new locations around the NDC.
* Perform minor carpentry, painting, and potentially some electrical tasks (if suitably qualified).
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during all tasks.
* Support NDC departments with waste removal from external service yards as required.
* Support internal warehouse housekeeping as required.
Note: Specialist services such as fire safety and lift equipment maintenance would be completed by suitably qualified external service providers.
Requirements
* Must be physically fit and capable of lifting, walking long distances, and working from ladders and steps (working at height).
* Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to commute to the NDC.
* Strong experience in general building repairs, particularly in a commercial setting (rather than residential).
* Proficiency in carpentry, plumbing, and painting. Electrical skills would be a benefit if the candidate holds the correct qualifications.
* IPAF (lift platforms to the height of 22m) – forklift counterbalance operator licenses in date would be a benefit but not essential as training can be given.
* Good understanding and experience of Health & Safety regulations in a commercial environment.
Additional Information
* Non-shift, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM; on occasion this may change with notice to meet business demands.
* Overtime may be required based on operational needs.
