Residential Child Care Support Worker
Location: Penrith
Contract Type: Full-time, permanent
Specific Hours: shift pattern
Salary: Unqualified: A base salary of £, per annum with potential to earn up to £, with sleep-in shifts. Qualified: A base salary of £, per annum with potential to earn up to £, with sleep-in shifts. (Qualified Care Worker salary is based on the completion of a Level Diploma for Residential Childcare)

As a Residential Support Worker, you are expected to be strong, committed, and passionate. You will be a role model, a good listener, approachable, and capable of inspiring young people. Your role involves promoting happiness, supporting their development, and creating positive memories.
We seek permanent Support Workers with a warm, approachable manner who can significantly impact young people's lives by helping them recover from early life experiences.
Main Duties:
Each home has detailed shift planners and handover documents outlining specific daily duties, which vary between term-time and holiday periods. Summary of duties during term-time:
* Supporting boys’ daily routines, including hygiene, meals, school runs, and activities.
* Supporting room cleaning, life skills, independence, socialization, and bedtime routines.
* Attending medical and other appointments.
* Supporting activity plans.
* Completing day sheets and working on targets with boys.
* Completing handover documents and daily paperwork.
* Managing budgeting requirements.
* Performing daily room checks and house cleaning.
* Shopping, meal prep, and kitchen hygiene.
* Performing checks like COSHH, fire, and vehicle checks.
* Building relationships with families and planning family contacts.
Additionally, you will be a Keyworker, building strong bonds and creating opportunities for the boys, showing warmth, empathy, and genuine care.
Requirements:
* Flexibility for sleep-in nights and shift work, with rotating start times.
* Understanding of issues faced by young people in care.
* Qualification in Residential Childcare, Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People's Workforce, NVQ Level in Health & Social Care, or willingness to work towards it.
* Excellent communication and listening skills.
* Willingness to learn and work as part of a small team.
* Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check (paid for by us).
* Experience with EBD, social/residential work, or youth work is advantageous.
* Full, clean UK driving license and flexibility to cover other homes as needed.
